Prenatal Mouse Brain Atlas is the only book available for studies of the mouse brain before birth. A previous edition, Atlas of the Prenatal Mouse Brain, was used by researchers working on normal brain development and abnormal development (toxicological and teratological studies), which has recently gained particular importance in genetic studies. Since the completion of the Human Genome Project, identification of human genes has allowed researchers to produce transgenic mice to study individual genes in the brain. The mouse is ideal for these genetic projects, but since mice are notorious for killing defective off-spring, the studies on the effects of gene manipulations often have to be performed on prenatal mouse brains. This new greatly expanded edition provides an easily accessible tool for researchers in the fields of normal and abnormal brain development for their genetic, toxicological, teratological and developmental studies. Users will be able to compare structure shown in the Atlas to what they see in the microscope.
