Radical Expression Political Language, Ritual, and Symbol in England, 1790-1850

Radical Expression explores a set of related themes dealing with popular radical expression in late 18th and 19th century England. The study re-examines the rhetoric of popular constitutionalism and the associated repertoire of constitutionalist mobilization. Particular emphasis is placed on symbolic and ritual elements within popular radicalism, including chapters on the meanings associated with sustained consideration of the dynamics of plebeian rationalism.
