Igrok

In the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel "Igrok" ("The Gambler") occupies a special place: the writer knew from personal experience that in the narrative becomes the main driving force behind the plot - the passion for the game. Gambler by nature, he challenged Fate every time, played with it, and it answered him the same. Experiencing serious financial difficulties, and promising to write a new novel, Dostoevsky has concluded a contract with a publisher, according to which had to pass the text in a strictly defined period of time, otherwise deprived of his rights to the publication of his works. Only in 26 days he dictated the novel for stenographer, a young girl who happily married him later.Adventurous story, love conflict and desire to play as the meaning of life are the main themes of this novel, able to capture the reader a whole and to subordinate to the talent and the will of the author is not worse than the most fun game.
