The Future of Our Schools

The fallout from «Waiting for Superman,» the anti-union, teacher bashing documentary on charter schools; and the current economic crisis has placed teachers under the gun like no other time in history. Teachers pensions have been looted by banks and government institutions that have wrecked the economy. Budget shortfalls requiring the closing of dozens of urban schools across the country has unfairly created a pressure cooker situation for public school teachers. Requiring teachers to work longer and harder for less pay is the mantra of the 1%. Strong, politically conscious, democratized unions will be the only defense against a corrupt and misguided system hell bent on destroying the lives of teachers.
