Awareness of the benefits of ecologically sustainable architecture has increased throughout the world, particularly over the past two decades. At a point in time when half the world's population lives in cities and nature is being steadily robbed of space, the call is becoming louder for sustainable buildings that save resources and protect the environment. Taking the example of 27 different projects, this book shows how growing urbanization can be combined with ecologically conscious architecture by, among other things, making use of gaps between buildings, innovative techniques, regenerative energy sources and renewable raw materials.
